We sat in the bathroom for just over an hour today. There was a tug of war over the toilet paper as I struggled to keep Ava on task, and a compromise to bring her favorite princess chair into the bathroom.
Whenever she has to go Ava normally runs and crouches down behind her princess chair. I successfully intercepted today and planted her but on the potty. But she still insisted on going behind her princess chair. So I grabbed the chair and got comfortable for I knew this was going to take a while. I decided to read her a book to get her mind off of going to the bathroom.
I grabbed my favorite Dr. Suess and started to read. Somewhere between the Green Eggs and Ham and a train on a boat I heard her do it. But I ignored it, concealed my smile and kept reading. She kept pushing. About two pages later Ava said, "Mommy, I think I pooped!" I made such a big deal and quickly called Grandma & Grandpa and Aunt Jill and Mom Mom and let everyone know. She was so proud.
She's training a bit late but she is so stubborn and has to do things on her terms, when she is ready. That's how she was with switching from a bottle to a sippy cup, with walking and even eating with a fork and spoon. I knew she'd be the same way with potty training. I knew one day it would just happen and she'd be okay with it. And that's exactly what happened.

I bought Jasmine a potty the other day. We are starting her on it slowly. I'm so proud of Ava! She is doing great.j
