We made it to 1 year! Ava is 1 and she stayed completely healthy so far! She did not get sick once and believe me, I went so out of my way to make sure she didn't. I guess you could say I was neurotic when it came to germs and Ava. For the first half of her life so far she was just too small to be able to handle getting sick.
I made sure everyone went strait to the sink to wash their hands when they came over so they weren't spreading germs on any surface of my house. I also made everyone leave their shoes at the door since Ava spends a substantial amount of time on the floor. If you were sick, you were not seeing Ava until 1 week after you were better.
I know this all sounds a bit much to some people but it kept my daughter healthy. After all the time she spent in the hospital and how sick she started out I did not need to have her go through anything like that again. Some germs are good and I know that children need to be exposed to them but I wanted to wait until after her 1st birthday before she got sick. Thank god I got my wish. So far.. so healthy! Her Pediatrician was also surprised that we made it to 1 without being sick and she told me I did the right thing by keeping Ava healthy.
Now that I'm going to start to be a little more lax with being a germ-a-phobe I wonder when Ava will get sick........
