It all starts with the box of 64

Yesterday Ava was getting her color on ALL DAY! I finally bought her first big box of 64 Crayola Crayons for her to go nuts with and create her scribbles. She has really grown fond of coloring lately as she always wanders up to me asking, "Want Color? Want Paper?"

I can remember when I was little and I would go shopping with my mom for back to school supplies and my favorite supply was my brand new box of Crayons. I would always take such good care of them in the beginning of the school year as I tried hard not to wear down the perfect pointy tips or even break or lose one! There was just always something special for me about that new box of crayons as the drawings that would come of them had limitless possibilities.

Maybe one day Ava will feel this way about her crayons. Maybe she wont. Maybe she'll become an artist like her Uncle Eric or my Cousin Chris. Maybe she'll do other great things with her creativity. Today we started small and colored some beautiful cards for some people who are very special to Ava.

Does the 64 box still have the sharpener? I used to love slicing the little ribbons off the crayons to get them pointy again. A pencil sharpener never quite did match the one that came with the box.

I loved the sharpener! We used to take the shavings and use them to decorate other crafts. I still keep a box of 64 at work that's just for me (hmmm, maybe that means I need to work on my sharing skills)!
