Of April 3rd..

The rain, rain won't go away so we'll have fun anyway…

When I was little I used to love July thunderstorms that left puddles all over the sidewalk. We would run barefoot through the warm water and watch as the puddles, our temporary playground, would evaporate with the heat taking every trace of the recent storm with it. Of course it's not July but spring has certainly trickled in with many thunderstorms this year.

We watched the storm from the window today and waited until this fifth and final storm passed so we could head back outside. Soon enough the sun started to shine through the rain and we ran outside in search of rainbows in the still grey sky painted by the setting sun. I found one almost immediately. As I pointed toward the sky to show Ava the rainbow I was disrupted by her laughter as she ran down the sidewalk toward a large puddle that sat waiting to be jumped in.

She started the day tip-toeing into the puddles, hesitant and unsure. She closed the day soaked and full of joy begging for one more romp through the puddles.
