Grandpa came home from a loooooong business trip that covered about 15 cities over two and a half weeks. A lifetime in Ava's eyes. She was missing him and often asked when he was coming home. When she saw him walk through the door she was mad. I presume it was because he left in the first place.
He brought her sweets, of course. A bag full of Hershey Kisses. She knows the drill with sweets, no more than one for each hand. And after she had her two she of course craved more.
She tip-toed over to me trying to conceal the enormous smile that was slowly creeping across her face. It's the smile and approach that always means she wants sweets.
"Mommy...?" she asked. But she didn't have to ask because I knew. "Can I have one, but not two?" as she held up one finger and attempted to make a deal. I didn't give in, I couldn't. But I wanted to.
Spoiling is Grandpa's job anyway.
