During our visit today the doctor advised us that we would be able to bring Ava home tomorrow as long as she passes her final tests!!! Last night they ran a 12 hour test to monitor whether or not Ava will need to come home with medical equiptment. I am hoping that the results are good and she won't have to come home with anything. I just want to put all this behind us!!
Mel also had to run home to pick up Ava's carseat and bring it back to the hospital because in order for her to be discharged she needs to pass her carseat test. This test checks to make sure that Ava can maintain a positve open airway while sitting in her carseat which is something that's hard to do when you're a preemie. Once she passes all of her tests she is officially all ours!!
I can't wait until that moment when we are sitting at home and I can rock Ava to sleep alone without a team of nurses fluttering around. There will be no machines, no wires, no constant fear in the back of my mind that somehow she will regress back to the begining. It will just be Ava and I rocking to sleep.
We aren't going to visit again until tomorrow because we have a lot of work to do at home to get everything ready since NOTHING was ready as a result of her unexpected arrival. I also want to let the Nurses and Doctor do their work and tests uninterrupted. I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep tonight as I'm so excited and full of anticipation for tomorrow!!!
